As part of the nationwide elevAIte Indonesia initiative together with Alkademi, the AI Coding Piloting Program powered by Minecraft Education was launched to introduce artificial intelligence and programming logic to Indonesia’s youth through game-based learning.
Ahead of the high-profile official showcase, the Alkademi team conducted comprehensive preparation and curriculum testing across 3 pilot schools in Jakarta:
- Kinderfield Duren Sawit
- SMP Labschool Jakarta (Rawamangun)
- MAN 9 Jakarta
Exploring AI & Coding Through Virtual Worlds
Why Minecraft Education? The platform serves as an intuitive digital sandbox where students can program agents, manipulate 3D environments algorithmically, and understand how logical problem-solving and AI algorithms translate into real-world applications.
During the sessions, students designed interactive simulations, including modeling urban infrastructure and landmarks into virtual coordinate-based worlds.

The highlight of the piloting took place at SMP Labschool Rawamangun, where the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, personally observed the classroom sessions and engaged with student projects.
The Vice President interacted with young coders, witnessed live demonstrations of their virtual worlds, and emphasized the strategic importance of mastering AI and coding skills responsibly to prepare Indonesia’s digital generation for Indonesia Emas 2045.

Guiding the Next Generation
For me personally, serving as a mentor throughout this program was an extraordinary experience. Seeing the children’s enthusiasm as they solved algorithmic puzzles and refined their code proved that game-based learning breaks down barriers, making technology welcoming and thrilling.
