The holy month of Ramadan always brings a unique atmosphere of reflection and service to the tech community. In 2024, a cherished annual tradition marked a full decade of meaningful impact: Lailatul Coding X (10 Years of Charitable Engineering).
For this milestone 10th edition, I was honored to serve as a technical mentor, guiding developers who gathered overnight during Ramadan. Our mission was humble yet deeply impactful: dedicating programming expertise to build and digitalize websites for places of worship (Rumah Ibadah), Islamic boarding schools (Rumah Ilmu), and orphanages (Rumah Asuh) so their vital work can be easily discovered and supported by the wider public.
Lailatul Coding 2024 was hosted simultaneously across 3 cities: Banda Aceh, Bandung, and Tasikmalaya, with the flagship overnight gathering hosted at Markas Bandung on April 4, 2024.
Bringing the Night to Life with Impactful Code
The pinnacle night of Lailatul Coding was far from a conventional hackathon. There were no trophies or commercial prizes; instead, it was fueled by pure volunteerism, camaraderie, and developers from all walks of life giving back to their communities.
A warm, focused atmosphere as participants diligently crafted websites deep into the night.
Sitting comfortably on carpets in a relaxed yet highly productive setting, developers structured web architectures, created responsive layouts, and integrated content management workflows for institutions in urgent need of an online presence.
Mentoring and Facilitating Overnight Engineering
As a mentor, my role was to ensure that participating teams could navigate technical roadblocks throughout the night—from data modeling and framework selection to continuous deployment so the websites were live and operational by morning.

Watching fellow developers passionately engaged with their screens right through until the pre-dawn sahur meal was genuinely inspiring. In an industry where programming is often viewed purely through a commercial lens, Lailatul Coding stands as a moving reminder that technology can be a powerful vehicle for faith, empathy, and social good.

Team Mentorship & Community Synergy
The night was made all the more meaningful through tight collaboration between fellow mentors and organizers who worked hand in hand until dawn.

A Decade of Shared Goodness
The gathering concluded with a pre-dawn meal together and a group photo of all participants and mentors in front of the Markas Bandung backdrop.

Ten years of Lailatul Coding prove that small, consistent acts of kindness performed collectively create lasting, exponential impact. May every line of code written during this blessed night bring continuous benefit to community centers, schools, and orphanages across Indonesia.
